Brush fire burns woodland near Nuremberg

NUREMBERG – Firefighters from Nuremberg-Weston, Ringtown, and the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) made quick work of a brush fire in North Union Township Thursday afternoon.

Crews were called to the 600 block of Red Ridge Road near Nuremberg around 3:30pm for reports of a brush fire.

The fire was reported to be “half a football field” in size and was endangering a shed on the south side of the fire and a home on the north side.

Nuremberg firefighters set up on the north side of the fire, protecting the home, while Ringtown firefighters tackled the blaze from the south.

The fire was brought under control in about half an hour, and DCNR assisted with overhaul.
