Borough to crack down on illegal parking beginning next week
SHENANDOAH – If you regularly park on a corner, near a fire hydrant, or in an alleyway in town, be warned. Shenandoah Police plan to crack down on illegal parking beginning next Monday.
“Effective the 27th, we’re cracking down on parking in alleys and side streets, as well as 15 feet of a fire hydrant, 20 feet of a crosswalk, and 30 feet of any stop sign,” said Patrolman William Moyer. “It’s always been state law, however it’s one of those things that’s been overlooked in the borough.”
Parking has been prohibited in alleyways, such as Chester, Atlantic, and Mount Vernon, for years, and has posed a problem for firefighters responding to calls.
Moyer said the advanced notice regarding the crackdown is to give residents ample warning.
