Construction rapidly progresses on new borough garage at Bicentennial Park
KAYLEE LINDENMUTH / SHENANDOAH SENTINEL - Construction progresses on the new Shenandoah borough garage at Bicentennial Park on May 29, 2026.
SHENANDOAH – Much of the frame for the new borough garage at Bicentennial Park has been built.
At the May 18 borough council meeting, Public Works Supervisor Brian Oliver said material had been delivered to the site.
Within a week, the tennis and basketball courts were leveled and, as of Monday, contractors had much of the frame built.
The garage is being built at the south end of Bicentennial Park by Dutchmen Construction.

It is being built, borough officials say, in response to numerous challenges at the current 2006-built garage on the northwest end of the park including a rat infestation.
Dutchmen Construction was awarded the first phase of the project at a cost of $469,460, the lowest of three bids.
This phase will build the pole building with plumbing but leave out electric work and fire suppression.
At the April 20 borough council meeting, Cadau said the building is expected to cost $1.4 Million when all is said and done. As for how the building is going to be paid for, Cadau said they are seeking an RACP grant or using MABS funds.
Also planned, Cadau and Oliver said, are upgrades to Bicentennial Park and Vine Street Park. As of the May meeting of council, equipment had been ordered.
