Shenandoah man to spend 12 years in federal prison for drug trafficking

SHENANDOAH – A Shenandoah man will spend the next 12 years in federal prison for his role in drug trafficking.

Pedro Villot-Ortiz, 26, of Shenandoah, was sentenced to 151 months, or about 12 1/2 years, in federal prison. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Karoline Mehalchick on possession with intent to deliver charges.

Shenandoah Borough Police, along with state troopers and agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, raided his home on West Cherry Street on July 25, 2024 after a controlled purchase of methamphetamine and fentanyl in March of 2024.

In the search, agents found 74.8 grams of methamphetamine and 28.7 grams of cocaine, according to documents filed in federal court. He was on probation at the time following two prior drug trafficking convictions.

Villot-Ortiz was initially charged with state-level drug crimes immediately following the search. Federal charges were filed in October of 2024 and Villot-Ortiz pleaded guilty as part of a plea agreement in April.
