Voter turnout high across northern Schuylkill County

SHENANDOAH – Voter turnout has been steady throughout northern Schuylkill County and poll workers and watchers the Sentinel spoke to Tuesday said it’s been higher than normal.

As of 5:30pm, 166 voters had cast their ballot at the Shenandoah 5 precinct, the Columbia Hose firehouse on West Centre Street.

In the 2020 general election, 251 voters had cast their ballot there.

At the Shenandoah 3 precinct, the Schuylkill Historical Fire Society, 288 people had voted as of Tuesday afternoon.

Steady turnout was also reported at Ryan Township, Sheppton, and seen at Mahanoy Township.

In downtown Shenandoah throughout the day, a man held and waved a Trump flag at Main and Centre, receiving several beeps from passing motorists.

Voters are deciding the next President of the United States, as well as U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania, U.S. Rep. from Pennsylvania’s 9th District, State Senator for the 29th District, State Reps. for the 116th, 123rd, and 124th District, and several state row offices.

Polls close at 8pm.
