State of emergency declared in borough

SHENANDOAH – A state of emergency has been declared for Shenandoah borough, as of Wednesday evening.

Mayor Andrew J. Szczyglak made the declaration.

As a result, the borough’s three parks — Bicentennial, Girard, and Vine Street — are closed and off limits until further notice.

“We are asking our residents to follow all precautionary measures when socializing with one another,” borough police said on behalf of the borough.

The borough also stressed businesses authorized to be open for takeout should be takeout only.
