Stained glass from St. Stephen’s, St. George’s, other area churches to be sold in Lehigh County

WHITEHALL, Lehigh County – The Diocese of Allentown is selling stained glass from a handful of area churches and convents — including St. Stephen’s and St. George’s — an hour away from here.

The sale will take place this Saturday, October 5, from 9am to 11am at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in Whitehall, Lehigh County.

According to a news release, the sale is being sponsored through Beyer Studio, of Philadelphia, and the proceeds from the sale will be returned to the parishes into which the closed were consolidated or merged.

Over 200 pieces are available for sale, ranging in price from $25 to $750.

Locally, the pieces originate from the following closed churches:
Shenandoah
St. George
St. Stephen

Girardville
St. Joseph

Ashland
St. Mauritius

Frackville
St. Joseph

Mahanoy City
Missionaries of Charity, St. Teresa of Calcutta Convent

Gordon
Our Lady of Good Counsel.

Pieces also originate from six other churches outside of northern Schuylkill County, including St. Kieran’s in Heckschersville, SS. Syril and Methodious in Coaldale, Sacred Heart in Nesquehoning, Carbon County, SS. Peter and Paul in Lehighton, Carbon County, St. John Capistrano in Bethlehem, Northampton County, and St. Jane Frances de Chantal in Easton, Northampton County.
