Police chase from North’d ends near Ringtown; two in custody

UNION TWP. – A police pursuit from Kulpmont ended just outside of Ringtown late Friday night.

Police officers from Kulpmont, Mount Carmel Borough, Mount Carmel Township, Shenandoah, Mahanoy City, and West Mahanoy Township converged on the intersection of Little Mountain Road and Ringtown Boulevard, near Creekside Restaurant around 10:00pm.

Two people in a Dodge Journey fled police from Kulpmont before hitting an embankment across of the restaurant.

Police at the scene had little information to share, though they did note two people were taken into custody and no one was injured in the pursuit.

Witnesses nearby reported hearing the commotion of the crash, and police commanding a man and a woman to, “Come out with their hands up.”

No further information was available as of 10:30pm Friday.

Dave’s Towing, Kulpmont, towed the vehicle from the scene.

Ringtown Valley Fire Police were called to close Ringtown Boulevard from Shenandoah Road to 15th Street while police were at the scene. As of 10:30pm, the road was still closed.
