One injured in Union Township crash

UNION TOWNSHIP – One person was taken to a local hospital for injuries after their SUV sailed down an embankment here Sunday afternoon.
The crash happened around 1:45pm in the area of 266 Zion Grove Road north of Ringtown.

A Jeep SUV was headed south towards Ringtown when the vehicle missed the left-hand turn and left the roadway, crashing down a 100 foot embankment.
Firefighters from Ringtown and Shenandoah had to use rope rescue techniques to get the driver back up to the road to awaiting medical personnel.

The driver was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries.
Responding to the scene along with Shenandoah and Ringtown Fire were Shenandoah and Ashland Ambulance and the Pennsylvania State Police.
