One flown after Mahanoy Plane crash

KAYLEE LINDENMUTH / SHENANDOAH SENTINEL - The scene of Thursday's crash in Mahanoy Plane.

MAHANOY PLANE – One person was flown to a local hospital after a crash i this section of Gilberton borough Thursday night.

The crash happened just before 9:00pm at the Mahanoy Plane Park.

Police said the driver of a GMC Jimmy had apparently suffered a medical emergency and veered off the road, striking a fence at the park.

KAYLEE LINDENMUTH / SHENANDOAH SENTINEL – A LifeFlight helicopter and Gilberton’s Continental Fire Company engine at the scene of Thursday’s crash.

The driver was treated at the scene by Frackville and Shenandoah EMS, and a LifeFlight helicopter landed at the park to transport the driver to a local hospital.

Firefighters from Gilberton’s Continental and American fire companies, along with Frackville and West Mahanoy Township police responded to the scene.

The vehicle was towed from the scene by Steve’s Towing, Shenandoah.
