HAZLETON – Police officers in this city recently seized a quad and are reminding people that it’s illegal to ride off-road vehicles within city limits.
Hazleton Police said officers returning from the Rockin’ the Mountain concert at City View Park on Friday spotted a red ATV on city streets. Officers eventually stopped the quad at South Church Street and Mine Street in the heart of the city.
The rider, who police identified, told officers he had ridden into the city to fuel the vehicle.
He was cited and his ATV was seized, per city ordinance, police said.
A penalty under that ordinance is the confiscation and forfeiture of such a vehicle to the city, which can crush or destroy it afterwards.
