New Jersey man killed in Route 901 wreck
TAYLORSVILLE – A New Jersey man was killed in a crash in this Barry Township village just before 1am Friday morning.
The crash happened on Sunbury Road (Route 901) at Black Creek Road.
State Police at Schuylkill Haven said 31-year-old Jerome Derenzo, of Saddle River, New Jersey, north of Paramus, was headed west on Route 901 toward Lavelle in a 2006 Chevrolet CK 3500.
Troopers said he lost control of the truck and drove 60 feet off the highway into an embankment.
Derenzo was not wearing his seatbelt and was found dead in the car.
He was the only person involved in the crash.
Firefighters from Lavelle, Hegins, and Ashland, among others responded to the scene.
