National Night Out celebrated in Frackville, Girardville

FRACKVILLE – First responders and other community organizations took part in National Night Out events in Frackville and Girardville Tuesday evening.

Events in Frackville began at 5pm at Memorial Park.

Attendees had the opportunity to interact with members of multiple organizations in the Frackville area, including the Frackville Police Department, Frackville Ambulance, Frackville Elks, and more.

The Frackville Police Department showed off their new patch insignia to be worn on their uniforms.

Area fire companies from the borough and its adjoining villages, Englewood and Altamont, were also on hand.

In Girardville, their event began at 6pm on Ogden Street at the Rangers Hose Co. firehouse.

Both Girardville fire companies participated along with Girardville Police, Washington EMS from Ashland, and the Girardville Borough Street Department.

A fire safety house was also set up to help educate children on fire prevention and safety.

Attendees could also explore the emergency equipment and try on firefighting turnout gear.

The Girardville Police Department also had fingerprinting at their stand.

According to the National Night Out website, the day “is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.”
