SHENANDOAH – A Girardville man is in custody in connection with the stabbing death of 36-year-old April Mahmod.

State Police at Frackville revealed early Monday morning that Nathaniel Joseph Kimmel, 22, of 12 North Richards Street, Mahmod’s ex-boyfriend, was taken into custody and charged with criminal homicide.

Troopers said Kimmel was waiting for Mahmod at her home when she returned from work, when he attacked.

Mahmod attempted to flee to 104 South Catherine, and Kimmel gave chase, stabbing her repeatedly.

Neighbors, hearing the noise, came outside and, as they approached, Kimmel fled.

Troopers took him into custody a few hours later.

Kimmel was arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge Christina Hale on Criminal Homicide and related charges, and committed to Schuylkill County Prison.
