Heights firefighters tackle pole line brush fire
SHENANDOAH HEIGHTS – Firefighters in this section of West Mahanoy Township tackled a brush fire along the pole line Monday afternoon.
Smoke could be seen from Shenandoah borough as the fire burned atop Locust Mountain beneath the West Mahanoy Township Municipal Building.
Firefighters were called to the area along Pennsylvania Avenue around 3pm and township police found two brush fires burning.
A Shenandoah Heights brush truck made its way down the pole line to provide water for the firefight as other responders staged along Schuylkill Avenue.
No structures were endangered and firefighters had the fire extinguished within about an hour.
The fire is at least the third brush fire in Schuylkill County firefighters handled Monday, with others burning in the Hegins and another in Carbon County, handled by McAdoo firefighters.
