Two injured in Turkey Run crash
TURKEY RUN – Two people were injured in a broadside collision at the entrance to the Gold Star Plaza Saturday night.
The crash happened around 8pm at the intersection of the Gold Star Highway (Route 924) and Gold Star Plaza in Shenandoah’s Turkey Run section.
Borough Police at the scene said a Honda Pilot was headed northbound on the highway and turned into the Gold Star Plaza, into the path of a southbound Chrysler Town and Country minivan.
The minivan struck the Pilot broadside.
Two people were injured, one from each vehicle, police said.
Firefighters from Shenandoah’s Columbia Hose fire company had to use hydraulic rescue tools to get a passenger out of the Chrysler minivan and into the care of Shenandoah Ambulance.
Firefighters from Shenandoah’s Rescue Hook and Ladder, Polish American, and Defender fire companies, along with Shenandoah Fire Police, assisted with traffic control.
Also responding was a police officer from Mahanoy Township.
The vehicles were towed by Steve’s Towing and Talk of Town.
