FRACKVILLE – A Frackville man is in Schuylkill County Prison after police here say he assaulted his pregnant girlfriend Saturday afternoon.

Frackville Police were called to the 400 block of West Pine Street around 11:00am for reports of an assault.

Patrolman Anthony Kankowski responded and met with the caller/victim. The victim told him that her and her boyfriend, Joseph Rush, 24, of the 400 block of West Pine Street, were in a verbal argument that morning.

The victim said that the argument was sparked by an outing with her sister the night prior, where she went to get a tattoo. She said Rush thought she was cheating on him and struck her in the left arm/shoulder area and in the head.

The victim had red marks corresponding with the alleged assault, and she was evaluated by Mahanoy City EMS at the scene.

Rush was taken into custody and charged with simple assault and harassment.

Bail was set at $7,500, and he was committed to county prison, unable to post bail.
