One evaluated after barn fire

ZION GROVE – A man was evaluated by emergency medical personnel after containing a fire in his barn in this North Union Township village Tuesday afternoon.

Fire broke out around 12:30pm Tuesday at a barn at 1497 Catawissa Creek Road.

Nuremebrg-Weston fire officials at the scene said a tractor in the barn had caught fire, and the owner attempted to contain the fire with an extinguisher and garden hose until firefighters arrived.

The fire had begun spreading to the wall of the barn.

Firefighters arrived and extinguished the fire in short order.

The man was evaluated at the scene for smoke inhalation by Shenandoah EMS.

Assisting Nuremberg-Weston Fire and Shenandoah EMS at the scene was the Ringtown Valley Fire Company.
