Dollar General under construction at Ringtown, nearing completion at Humboldt
RINGTOWN – One new Dollar General is nearing completion as another’s foundation is laid in our area.
Construction workers were working on the foundation of the new store on West Main Street near 11th Street in Ringtown Thursday afternoon.
The site was formerly the Ringtown American Legion Post.
The post sold the building and land to Hanjack Realty, Schuylkill Haven, on July 13 for $29,826, and, within a week, the building was razed and work began on the store.
Hanjack, according to planning and zoning documents, was behind the construction of Dollar Generals in Shartlesville and near Bethel in Berks County.
Dollar General’s press contact did not respond to a request for comment.
Meanwhile, a few miles north on Route 924, another Dollar General is under construction at the Humboldt Industrial Park.
On Thursday, workers were putting the finishing touches on the new store at the intersection of Oak Ridge Road and the Shenandoah – Hazleton Highway (Route 924).
The location is about three miles north on Route 924 from where a Dollar General was planned in the village of Sheppton in East Union Township. That location was unable to proceed as a result of planning and zoning issues, additionally facing stern opposition from local residents.
The Humboldt location is a short distance — about 3,000 feet — outside East Union Township, in Hazle Township, Luzerne County.
