One injured, one flees after Kline crash
McADOO – A crash just outside this borough injured one while another fled the scene Wednesday afternoon.
The crash happened just before 3:00pm at 699 South Kennedy Drive, the Sunoco station, just over the borough line into Kline Township.
Kline Township Police Chief John Petrilla told the Sentinel at the scene that a black Chevy Equinox struck a GMC Yukon.
The Equinox driver, identified as Brett Sell, 21, of Tamaqua, didn’t realize Route 309 through the borough was closed at that point, and swerved to avoid the barriers, striking the Yukon.
Sell, Petrilla said, fled without putting the car in park. The car then rolled into the entrance of the Sunoco station. The station did not sustain any damage, he said.
The passenger of the Equinox, Paige Livengood, of Hazleton, the owner of the vehicle, was evaluated by McAdoo EMS at the scene for a head injury.
The five occupants of the Yukon escaped injury.
Assisting Kline Township Police at the scene were police officers from McAdoo and Rush Township, as well as the McAdoo Fire Co.
