Frackville porch fire ruled accidental

FRACKVILLE – An overnight fire damaged the rear of a duplex in this borough early Thursday morning.

Firefighters from Frackville, Englewood, Altamont, and Mahanoy City were called to 326 West Spring Street just before 3:00pm for a reported structure fire.

Frackville Police were first to arrive, confirmed a porch fire.

Firefighters made quick work of the fire, though crews remained on scene for about two hours investigating.

“It looks like it was an issue or something with the grill,” Frackville Fire Chief William Lindenmuth told the Sentinel Thursday morning. “It was accidental in nature.”

No one was injured, nor was anyone displaced. The majority of the fire damage was contained to 326 West Spring, with minor damage to 324.

Firefighters were clear of the scene by 5:00am.
