MAHANOY CITY – On Wednesday, Mahanoy City Police released details on five incidents in the borough.

2/19/2018 – Harassment,  Public Drunkenness

A Barnesville man was cited for two incidents in the same day.

The first occurred just before 10:00am, when police were called to South Catawissa Street for reports of a 21-year-old female being harassed.

Officers responded, and found Rhett Baker, 21, of Barnesville, to be the actor, and harassment charges were filed by Patrolman Rachael Lenar.

Then, around 8:30pm, officers encountered Baker in the area of Catawissa and South Streets.

According to officers, Baker approached police, and appeared to be intoxicated and was under the influence of a controlled substance.

Baker was subsequently charged by Patrolman Thomas Rentschler with public drunkenness and similar charges, and will have to respond to both charges at the Shenandoah courtroom of Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker.

2/20/2018 – Disorderly Conduct
Shortly before 7:30pm, officers were dispatched to a report of a fight involving a baseball bat in the area of West Centre and Catawissa Streets.

Officers responded, and subsequently cited four individuals involved in the incident. Mahanoy City residents Johanna Rodriguez, 31; Jose Rodriguez, 29; and Joanne Schneider, 35, were cited for disorderly conduct, as well as Julia Schneider, 25, of Mahanoy Plane.

All parties involved will have to respond to the citations at the Shenandoah courtroom of Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker.

2/28/2018 – Harassment
Around 4:00pm, officers responded to a report of harassment in thet 400 block of West Pine Street.

Kenneth VanHorn, 38, of Mahanoy City. was subsequently charged by Patrolman Thomas Rentschler with harassment and criminal mischief. 

VanHorn will have 10 days to respond to the citation at Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker’s Shenandoah courtroom.

2/28/2018 – Fugitive Apprehension

Just before 5:00pm, Mahanoy City Police conducted a warrant sweep, which led to the arrest of a borough man wanted in Luzerne County.

According to police, Sebastian Leto, 41, was wanted on a parole violation in Luzerne County when he was apprehended by Patrolman Thomas Rentschler in the 700 block of East Mahanoy Street.

“The Mahanoy City Police Department will continue with its coordinated effort to apprehend wanted persons who attempt to conceal themselves in our community,” said Chief Kenneth Zipovsky.

Leto is currently housed in the Schuylkill County Prison awaiting extradition to Luzerne County.
