Longtime Hazleton area leader tapped for PADCO position

POTTSVILLE – A longtime Hazleton area leader is taking a role a little ways south.

Lew Dryfoos III is now the executive director of the Pottsville Area Development Corporation.

He has served as a Conyngham borough councilman and in leadership roles with the Greater Hazleton United Way, Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce, CANDO, and MMI Preparatory School, among others.

“I am honored to join PADCO and to work alongside its dedicated board, partners, and community stakeholders,” said Dryfoos. “I look forward to building on the organization’s strong foundation and helping advance initiatives that enhance the vitality of downtown Pottsville.”

He was hired following what PADCO called a comprehensive public search conducted by a committee of board members.

“On behalf of the board, I would like to thank our search committee for their thoughtful and diligent work throughout this process,” said Chris Kelly, PADCO president and board chair. “We are thrilled to welcome Lew as our new Executive Director. His extensive leadership experience, strong background in business and nonprofit governance, and demonstrated commitment to community development make him an outstanding fit to lead PADCO.”

Dryfoos succeeds Savas Logothetides who is leaving for an opportunity in the private sector, PADCO says.

Dryfoos, PADCO adds, has more than three decades of executive leadership experience in the insurance and financial services sectors.
