Three charged in Luzerne County break-in

DRUMS – Three people are facing charges after a burglary investigation in Luzerne County.

David DeRoy, 40; Tanner Titus, 30; and Michael Scuderi, 51, all of Drums, were charged in connection with a burglary at Butler Valley Self Storage on South Hunter Highway.

The break-in was reported around 2:30pm on April 1, according to Butler Township (Luzerne County) Police. Security camera footage showed the incident happened around 1pm on March 28 and several thousand dollars worth of property was swiped.

DeRoy, police said, was interviewed at his home in Beech Mountain Lakes that night and multiple stolen items were recovered there as well as items stolen from other location sin the Freeland and Drums areas.

Police said he admitted to his involvement and that the trio broke into the storage unit twice.

DeRoy was taken into custody late last Thursday in Freeland and Titus was arrested nearby.

Scuderi was taken into custody early Friday morning on Freedom Road where additional stolen property was recovered.

Deroy, Titus and Scuderi were arraigned Friday morning before on-duty Magisterial District Judge Joshua R. Moses and released on $5,000 unsecured bail. DeRoy and Titus have other unrelated cases pending in Luzerne County Court.

The total value of the stolen property is estimated at $4,169, police said.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for next month in Luzerne County Central Court.
