Local author to present at Shenandoah Historical Society

SHENANDOAH – The first presentation of the year at the Greater Shenandoah Area Historical Society is set for next week.

Stephen Wasilewski, a local author, will talk about his new book, The River Between Us, and the overarching Vietnam War.

“The novel’s story is specifically about 2 young girls who grow up in northern Vietnam living in a quiet peaceful village, but the French occupation leads to one of the characters fathers being imprisoned, accused of helping resistance fighters,” Wasilewski says. “More tragedy strikes, with food shortages, war, and communism.  In the confusion and struggle these girls will grow up and separate.  It discusses their families, their lives, their confrontations with soldiers and law enforcement.”

The presentation is set for 6:30pm on Tuesday, May 5 at the historical society headquarters at Main and Cherry Streets.

Admission is free and refreshments will be served.
