SV renews superintendent’s contract through 2031

SHENANDOAH – Shenandoah Valley’s superintendent will remain here through at least 2031 as school board members approved a contract renewal Wednesday evening.
Brian Waite was originally hired as superintendent in 2016.
“You took a chance on me, which I was very grateful for,” Waite said. “I’ve grown through these years because of the people that I’ve worked with. It’s a great honor and a privilege to continue on here and continue to be a part of the Shenandoah Valley family and be a part of the 462.”
“We are just thrilled to have you,” School Board President Joe Buchanan said after the vote to renew Waite’s contract.
The new contract runs through May of 2031. Financial details were not shared at Wednesday’s meeting.
In other business, the school board approved several personnel actions at Wednesday’s meeting.
School psychologist and elementary vice principal Lesley Matus is resigning effective July 10 and Joshua Jones, a high school English teacher, is resigning effective the end of the school year. Frank Blozowskie, a van driver, also plans to resign effective June 5.
Meanwhile, the district approved several hires, including Anthony Muclada as a special education teacher at a salary of $48,590; Victoria Roke as a high school English/ESL teacher at a salary of $56,140; and Michael Davis as a high school math teacher at a salary of $75,690.
The board also approved Megan Mehalick as head cheerleading coach with a $3,450 stipend, along with assistant cheerleading coach Gabrielle Reinhoel at $1,750 and Danielle Weist as a volunteer cheerleading coach.
Susan Putalonis was approved as a volunteer band chaperone.
