HAZLETON – Some local students are gaining experience in litigation and they’re on an undefeated run so far.
Hazleton Area High School’s Mock Trial Team won the district championship recently, school officials said in a release.
“This accomplishment reflects the hard work, preparation, and teamwork these students bring to the courtroom,” said Superintendent Dr. Brian Uplinger. “Programs like Mock Trial give our students the opportunity to build confidence, sharpen their communication skills, and apply what they learn in the classroom to real-world experiences. We are incredibly proud of their success and wish them the best as they move on to regionals.”
The mock litigants move on to regionals on Tuesday, March 10 where the defense team will face Nazareth at the Northampton County Courthouse in Easton.
The Mock Trial program challenges students to develop legal reasoning, critical thinking, and public speaking skills while working collaboratively to prepare and present a courtroom case. Students take on the roles of attorneys and witnesses, presenting arguments, examining testimony, and responding to questions before a panel of judges.
