County’s 10th largest employer plans to close plant in May

HIGHRIDGE – Schuylkill County’s 10th largest employer is closing up shop.

Saks & Company filed a WARN Notice with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry as they plan to close their Highridge Industrial Park distribution center in Foster Township.

The plant employs 435 people who will all be without a job come the end of May.

Saks tells the Department of Labor and Industry that layoffs will begin May 3 and end May 31.

The parent company, Saks Global, filed for bankruptcy in January.

According to DLI statistics from the third quarter of 2025, Saks was the 10th largest employer in Schuylkill County at the time.
