Shenandoah Valley honors December, January students of the month

SHENANDOAH – The Shenandoah Valley School District recognized their high school students of the month for December and January.

Rachel Sekula and Josephine Kropp respectively were recognized at Wednesday’s school board meeting.

Sekula, of Shenandoah, says she is interested in reading, baking, and hanging out with friends and playing sports.

She is an active volunteer in the community, including as a junior firefighter and assisting at fire company bingos and block parties.

At school, she is part of the National Honor Society, National Arts Honor Society, Tri M Music Honors Society, Student Council, Volleyball, Academic Bowl, Concert Band, Jazz Band, and more.

She plans to attend Penn State Schuylkill for nursing.

Kropp has volunteered as a Schuylkill Technology Center Student Ambassador and has helped with K9 Hero Haven, American Red Cross blood donations, Heritage Day, and more.

At school, she is a member of the marching band and has been a part of the Schuylkill County Band, Northumberland-Schuylkill Honors Band, Tri-M Music Honors Society, and more. She is also a cheerleader and member of the Shenandoah Valley Drama Club and Track and Field squad.

Her personal interests include reading books, seeing friends, studying for school, painting, drawing, and going on walks outside.

She plans to attend Lackawanna College for criminal justice and to attend the Corrections Academy to become a K9 Corrections Officer.
