Kline police chief to retire after 33 years of service

KELAYRES – Kline Township will be seeking a new police chief in the new year.

Longtime Police Chief John Petrilla will retire effective Feb. 15.

Supervisors Chairman Matt Corra announced the retirement at a rare Saturday morning meeting in the township Department of Public Works garage.

Corra said Petrilla had served for more than three decades.

“Today, we formally acknowledge his legacy,” Corra said. “Chief Petrilla’s dedication and service will always be part of Kline Township’s story.”

Township supervisors also voted to hire a police officer part-time, Jon Yaskiewicz. The department has five part-time officers in addition to Petrilla, who is full-time.
