Girardville approves Halloween parade, trunk-or-treat, no action on trick-or-treat
GIRARDVILLE – Borough council here took action to approve two Halloween events, but there may not be a borough-sanctioned town-wide trick-or-treat night this year.
At Wednesday night’s council meeting, council approved the Halloween Parade, sponsored by the Good Time Club, which will run from Main Street to the B Street Playground, Mayor Michael Zangari told the Sentinel. The parade begins at 3:30pm.
At the B Street Playground, a trunk-or-treat and touch-a-truck will be held starting at 4pm.
No action was taken, whether to cancel or approve, regarding a town-wide trick-or-treat night in the borough, Zangari said.
Zangari said proponents of a sanctioned trick-or-treat night can make their voices heard at the Oct. 8 borough council meeting at 7:30pm. He added that, while the borough may not vote to sanction an event, nothing is stopping residents from observing the traditional Oct. 31 event.
In other business, council is preparing to sell properties it owns in the borough.
Solicitor Shane Hobbs is preparing paperwork to offer 17 properties for sale hopefully by the October meeting.
Information will be posted to the borough Facebook page and new website.
