HS BASEBALL: SV seniors shine in final appearance at Marty DeLuca Field

SHENANDOAH – On Senior Appreciation Night at Marty DeLuca Memorial Field, the Shenandoah Valley Blue Devils completed their season sweep of Mahanoy Area.
The Devils recognized their senior players before Tuesday’s game.
Shenandoah took an early lead and continued to build on it through the first five innings, scoring seven in the first five until Mahanoy Area mustered two runs in the sixth inning to answer.
Shenandoah added three more in the sixth to take a 10-2 victory.
The Blue Devils had seven hits and three errors, while the Golden Bears had four hits and three errors.
Landon Monaghan, Johnny Burke, and Brayden Maksimik, all seniors, led with two hits apiece for the Devils. Another senior, Brayden Lutz, added one. Senior Brandon Boris had a home run.
Maksimik led in runs with three while Boris and junior Chase McCole added two runs. Monaghan, Tristian Karosas, and Jeremy Thomas each added one run apiece as well.
In RBI’s, Burke led the Devils with three while Boris and Monaghan each had two. McCole and Lutz added one each.

For the Golden Bears, Joe Rick, Justin De La Rosa, Michael Gambone, and Owen Ogrodnick each had hits.
De La Rosa and Levi Terry both scored runs.
On the mound, Landon Monaghan pitched five innings. He had seven strikeouts and allowed two runs off walks. Chase McCole relieved for the final inning and had one strikeout.
For the Bears, Mike Oblas pitched four innings, scoring three strikeouts. Donovan Herman relieved for two innings and had one strikeout.
Shenandoah Valley’s next game is critical for the Devils to earn a spot in the Schuylkill League Playoffs. They stand in third place and facing fourth place Minersville on Thursday at Minersville.
