County woman set aflame on Club 40 Road; DA’s Office

HAZLETON – The body found aflame along Club 40 Road near Hazleton was a Schuylkill County woman, the Luzerne County District Attorney’s Office said Monday.
Further details regarding her identity were not provided.
Acting Luzerne County Coroner Kaitlin Keating has scheduled an autopsy for Tuesday morning.
The woman’s body was found aflame on Club 40 Road near East Broad Street around 7am Sunday when firefighters were called for a reported mannequin on fire. Firefighters quickly discovered the mannequin was a human body.
Later Sunday, the Sentinel was on scene as the Hazleton Special Response Team, along with Luzerne County Detectives, State Police at Hazleton, and Wilkes-Barre Police, raided a home at 137 Muir Avenue in the Hazleton Heights section of the city.
That raid, Hazleton Police Public Information Officer Jessica Surkin said, was connected to the body found.
