Man still sought for credit card thefts at Hazleton area Chinese buffet more than decade later

HAZLETON – State troopers are still seeking a man they say used customer credit/debit cards at Jumbo China Buffet a decade ago to buy pre-paid credit cards.

Xu Jian Hua, 60, of Brooklyn, New York, has been wanted since April 2014 on felony forgery and theft charges.

According to State Police at Hazleton, the thefts occurred in December 2013.

Nineteen victims reported unauthorized charges on their credit/debit cards at various locations in Hazleton, Wilkes-Barre, Allentown, Bethlehem, and Easton.

A common factor was identified through each victim: they all had eaten at Jumbo China Buffet near the Church Hill Mall in early to mid December, 2013.

An Asian man who took their cards to pay for their meals took an abnormally long time to return their cards, troopers reported.

One suspect was identified as Xu Jian Hua, who was observed on video surveillance utilizing several stolen credit card numbers to make purchases.

In April 2014, an arrest warrant was obtained for Hua for multiple felony theft, forgery, and access device fraud charges. The approximate total value of the reported theft is $4,600.

His last known address was in Brooklyn, New York.

The photo above is from Hua’s last New York Driver’s License, which expired in December 2019.
