O’Connor Law carries on Project Cheer legacy with own version
FRACKVILLE – Two families in need received Christmas cheer this year as a Frackville law firm carries on a tradition started by a former Frackville police officer and his family.
O’Connor Law helped Project Cheer since its inception in 2018. Originally launched by Anthony and Heather Kankowski, the effort helped families in the jurisdiction of the Frackville Police Department. In 2022, it expanded to include Shenandoah borough with the help of the Shenandoah Borough Police Department.
Last year, the Kankowski-organized effort ended shortly after Anthony left the Frackville police force.
O’Connor Law launched their own version last year, “Project O’Cheer,” sponsoring a family’s entire Christmas celebration last year and two this year.
One family is from the North Schuylkill School District and the other is from the Mount Carmel Area School District, O’Connor Law said in a media release.
“The families both expressed their gratitude and shared feelings of relief,” the law office said in a release. “The holiday season brings so much joy, but there is also so much pressure, especially on struggling families, to make the day special. Both families agreed that this took a weight off their shoulders.”
“The O’Connor Law attorneys and staff share excitement for this event each year. Volunteers from the staff are always happy to help with shopping, wrapping gifts, and delivering them to the families,” they added. “They are grateful for the opportunity to help make another family’s Christmas magical. This tradition is a very special part of the O’Connor Law Christmas and the office is already looking forward to next year.”
