PSP: Man with stolen car fired shots, broke into house, stole second car, fled
BARNESVILLE – A man is in custody after a wild incident beginning north of Hazleton and ending in our area.
According to State Police at Hazleton, Butler Township Police tried to stop a stolen vehicle in their area earlier Monday.
The driver fled in the car, fired shots, and ran away, troopers said.
He then broke into a home and stole another car.
State troopers spotted that car on Interstate 80 and tried to pull him over, and a pursuit ensued, eventually ending on Route 54 in the Barnesville area.
Spike strips were set on Route 54 between Marian Avenue and Fairview Drive, ending the chase.
Police did not return fire at any point, troopers said, and the incident is isolated.
Troopers did not release the man’s name but said he was taken into custody without incident.
