Communities recognize, honor late state trooper who served area

Trooper Peter Conforti

FRACKVILLE – A state trooper from the Tamaqua area who once served northern Schuylkill County passed away earlier this week, the Pennsylvania State Police announced.

Trooper Peter Conforti joined the force in April 2016 and was most recently assigned to the Hamburg barracks.

“He served the Commonwealth with honor and integrity and will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and coworkers,” the state police said in a statement. He was off-duty when he passed.

Conforti was once assigned to the Frackville barracks and local first responders are paying tribute.

The Nuremberg-Weston Fire Company offered condolences via Facebook, as did the Hazleton Police Department.

“Our officers had the pleasure of working along side Pete on dozens of Ryan Twp incidents over the years,” the Ryan Township Fire Co. in Barnesville said. “Kind, fair, down to earth young man. He was truly a model to those wanting to wear the badge.”

A procession from St. Luke’s Coaldale Hospital to Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest in Allentown is set for 2:30pm.
