NORTHERN SCHUYLKILL – The following is a compilation of police incidents handled by the Pennsylvania State Police in and around northern Schuylkill County recently.
PG man smashes Jeep window, pints bow and arrow at pair in Tremont Twp.
A Pine Grove man is in Schuylkill County Prison after state troopers say he showed up at a residence in Tremont Township with a pick axe, smashed the windows of a Jeep, and threatened a pair with a bow and arrow.
Troopers from the Schuylkill Haven barracks accuse Darryl Shadle, 33 of Pine Grove in the incident which occurred just before 1:00pm on Feb. 23 on Molleystown Road.
Troopers say Shadle arrived at the home, smashed three windows on a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and then aimed a bow and arrow at two victims.
Shadle fled the scene into the woods and was arrested there shortly after.
He was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge David Rossi and committed to Schuylkill County Prison, unable to post $50,000 bail.
Borough man stopped for headlight violation found with Marijuana in Luzerne
A Shenandoah man is facing drug possession charges after state troopers stopped him near Hazleton for a headlight violation.
The traffic stop happened around 8:30pm on Feb. 17 in the area of North Church Street and 27th street.
State Police at Hazleton reported stopping a 2008 BMW, driven by 21-year-old Julio Arizmendi of Shenandoah, for a headlight violation.
Troopers reported that the driver was found with a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Charges will be filed with Magisterial District Judge James Dixon.
19-year-old hits parked car in Hazle Township
A 19-year-old was uninjured, but their car suffered heavy damage, when they struck a parked car in the 1000 block of West 19th Street in Hazle Township Monday evening.
The crash happened around 6:00pm Feb. 24 when troopers say 19-year-old Mawelvin Lazala Ramirez, 19, of Hazleton, was headed westbound in a 2004 Acura TL when he swerved and struck a parked car.
The driver was uninjured and wearing his seatbelt, though the vehicle had heavy front end damage. The parked vehicle, a 2006 Jeep Liberty,had two flat tires and minor rear end damage.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene by Zenier’s Towing.
Dunkin Donuts employees accused of activating gift cards without paying
A pair of employees at the Hazle Township Dunkin Donuts are facing charges after troopers say they activated two $50 gift cards without paying.
According to State Police at Hazleton, they were called to the business at 1190 North Church Street around 2:30pm.
They reported that Annmarie Ialacqua, 21, of Hazle Township, and Marlene Benitez, 25, of McAdoo, activated two $50 gift cards without paying.
Citations were filed with Magisterial District Judge James Dixon, troopers said.
One son pepper sprays father, other barricades self in garage with crossbow in Humboldt
Two brothers are locked up in Luzerne County Prison after a domestic dispute in the Humboldt section of Hazle Township on Feb. 22.
The incident happened around 5:30am on Front Street when State Police at Hazleton responded to a domestic dispute between two brothers and their father.
Troopers reported that one son had pepper sprayed their 57-year-old father, and the other barricaded himself in a detached garage with a crossbow.
One of the two males, Matthew Ryan Maslo, 28, of Hazle Township, was taken into custody at the scene and charged with Terroristic Threats, Simple Assault, Resisting Arrest, Harassment, and Disorderly Conduct.
The other, 31-year-old Edward Maslo of Hazleton, fled the scene and was later located and charged with Terroristic Threats, Simple Assault, and Harassment.
Both were denied bail and lodged in Luzerne County Prison.
