Butler Township approves budget with no tax increase; last increase was 2014
FOUNTAIN SPRINGS – For nearly a decade, residents in Butler Township haven’t seen a property tax increase, and they won’t in 2024.
Butler Township Supervisors approved their 2024 final budget Wednesday night, keeping the tax rate at 10.65 mills.
The budget totals $2,337,570, with the lion’s share in the general fund.
Supervisors Chairman Dave Kessler said the tax rate had last increased in 2013 to 11.65 mills, and was decreased the following year to the current rate.
In other business, township supervisors approved an ordinance to adopt the 2021 edition of the International Property Maintenance Code. Solicitor Chris Reidlinger said the township had been using the 2009 edition.
Supervisors also approved authorizing Reidlinger to write a letter to FEMA, requesting a budget amendment for a floodplain project on Dutchtown Road. He said the township is purchasing a home in the floodplain for demolition and may purchase the empty parcel across the street as well.
They also approved a contract with a PPL Electric Utilities contractor regarding using overweight vehicles on township roads.
