West Mahanoy seeks bids for 2023 road program

SHENANDOAH HEIGHTS – West Mahanoy Township Supervisors approved seeking bids for their 2023 road program Tuesday night.

The township is looking to repave several streets in Shenandoah Heights and Altamont.

In the base bid package, the township is seeking bids to repave Virginia Avenue from Seneca to Wyoming, Topeka from Ohio to Indiana, Ohio from new pavement at a sharp turn to Topeka, Pennsylvania Avenue from Weston Place to about 230 feet east, and Willow Street from Spencer to Morea Road.

If funds are available, supervisors are also seeking bids for the repaving of Florida Avenue from Seneca to Delaware, and Texas Avenue from Seneca to Wyoming.

KAYLEE LINDENMUTH / SHENANDOAH SENTINEL – A portion of Ohio Avenue township supervisors are looking to resurface.

In other business, supervisors approved the sale of a 2006 Chevrolet pickup truck for $2,350 and a Ford Crown Victoria for $785.

The township also approved the hiring of Matthew Bauer through the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation at a rate of $12/hr, which will be reimbursed to the township by OVR.

Residents of the Weston Place section thanked the supervisors for a recent resurfacing of Radio Station Road.

A resident of the Altamont section also raised concerns about drainage in the area of South Penn Street and issues with lights from the Schuylkill Technology Centers campus.
