West Mahanoy seeking grant for Altamont park

SHENANDOAH HEIGHTS – West Mahanoy Township supervisors approved several resolutions Tuesday night to seek a grant from the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) to rehabilitate the Altamont park.

Supervisors approved a resolution to seek a $67,500 grant to improve the park, located near the Altamont firehouse.

Chairman Paul “Pepper” Martin said the effort has been in the works for several years.

Supervisors also approved a motion to hire a full-time road worker with a commercial driver’s license at a rate of $17/hr.

They also voted to conditionally approve a land development plan for a solar farm near Morea.
