Two transported after Gold Star crash at Furnace Street
TURKEY RUN – Two people were taken to the hospital after a crash at the entrance to this village Saturday afternoon.
The crash happened just after 2pm at Furnace Street and the Gold Star Highway in Mahanoy Township, about 500 feet from the Shenandoah borough line.
A Nissan Altima and a Jeep collided at that intersection, with both vehicles sustaining major damage.
The Jeep came to a rest in the grass north of Furnace Street while the Altima was in Furnace Street.
Two people — one from each vehicle — were taken to the hospital by Shenandoah EMS and Ashland EMS respectively.
Firefighters from Shenandoah’s Defender, Columbia, and Rescue Hook and Ladder fire companies responded to the scene along with Shenandoah Police and State Police.
State Police are investigating the crash.
