Two flown from Barry Township crash

TAYLORSVILLE – Two people were flown to a Montour County hospital after a crash Thursday afternoon.

The crash happened just before 3pm Thursday on Sunbury Road near Deep Creek Road in Barry Township.

According to the State Police at Schuylkill Haven, Andrew Ruben, 28, of Saint Clair, was headed east on Deep Creek Road in a 2017 Mitsubishi Lancer.

Troopers said he came to a complete stop at the intersection with Sunbury Road and began to cross the highway without clearing the intersection, crossing in front of Stephen Albertini, 38, of Coal Township.

Albertini’s 2014 Chevrolet Silverado struck Ruben’s vehicle nearly broadside.

Ruben’s passengers — Heidi McCarthy, 31, of Ashland, and an 11-year-old Ashland girl — were flown to Geisinger Danville, while Ruben was taken by ground to Pottsville.

Albertini had a suspected minor injury, troopers said, but was not transported to a hospital.

All involved wore their seatbelt.

Both vehicles were towed by Oakland Towing, and Ruben will be cited for the crash, troopers said.
