Two charged, several injured in gunfight at Pottsville bar

POTTSVILLE – Two people are facing charges and at least four people are injured after an apparent gunfight at a bar in Pottsville this morning.
State Troopers from the Schuylkill Haven barracks reported that, at 2:15am, a verbal argument broke out at Woody’s Bar in the 200 block of Peacock Street in the city.
In the argument, Gerald Barrow, 28, and an unnamed 25-year-old ale suspect pulled out pistols and a gunfight ensued.
The 25-year-old was struck several times in the front torso and was disabled as a result, when Malik Stevens, 25, grabbed the injured man’s weapon and opened fire at Barrow.
Barrow retreated into the bar and continued firing at Stevens.
A Pottsville City Police Officer arrived and fired shots as well, though troopers were not clear regarding who they fired at.
The unnamed 25-year-old was flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest in Allentown and is said to be in critical condition. Stevens was struck in the leg and taken to the same hospital, where troopers say he is in stable condition.
Barrow was unharmed in the firefight. Two victims, a 33-year-old male and 44-year-old male, were caught in the crossfire and injured. The 33-year-old was struck in the head by a ricocheted bullet, and was treated at a hospital and released.
The 44-year-old was shot in the arm and flown to Lehigh Valley – Cedar Crest where he is in stable condition, troopers said.
Stevens faces aggravated assault and associated charges, while Barrow faces attempted homicide, aggravated assault, and associated charges.
