Troopers release information on Gold Star crash; Frackville man cited
TURKEY RUN – State Police at Frackville released information this morning on a crash earlier this month on the Gold Star Highway here, and a Frackville man was cited.
The crash happened on March 3 just before 3pm near the Shenandoah Family Development.
Troopers said a 2018 Toyota Tacoma, driven by 41-year-old Robert Victor, of Frackville, was stopped at Pioneer Road and the Gold Star.
A 2017 Kawasaki Ninja, ridden by Jason Najunas, 23, of Shenandoah, was headed south on the Gold Star, while a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by Lorraine Rosario, 46, of Shenandoah, was stopped in the northbound lane with her left turn signal on, waiting to turn onto Pioneer Road.
Troopers said Victor’s pickup entered Route 924, failing to yield to the motorcycle, striking it and sending it into the Equinox, throwing Najunas from the bike.
Najunas suffered serious injuries and was taken to Geisinger Medical Center in Montour County for treatment. He was wearing a helmet.
Rosario suffered minor injuries and was taken to a Pottsville hospital. Victor was not injured. They were both wearing their seatbelts.
All vehicles were towed from the scene by Steve’s Towing by operator’s request, troopers said.
Citations were filed Friday against Victor for traffic violations related to the crash.
