Train derailment closes Dutchtown Road in Butler Twp.

KAYLEE LINDENMUTH / SHENANDOAH SENTINEL - A train blocks Dutchtown Road after it partially derailed on Nov. 6, 2023.
BUTLER TOWNSHIP – Dutchtown Road here, south of Ashland, will be closed for an extended period of time due to a train derailment.
The derailment happened around 2pm on Dutchtown Road near Gordon Road at the railroad crossing.
A Reading and Northern train car hauling coal had a wheel jump the tracks. No injuries were reported, nor was any major damage.
Firefighters from Englewood and Lavelle initially responded for a report of a brush fire sparked by the derailment, which was unfounded.
The road, which links Route 901 to Gordon Road, will be closed as crews right the train.
