Teen does loop in yard, launches car over embankment

KAYLEE LINDENMUTH / SHENANDOAH SENTINEL - A state trooper stands atop an embankment next to tire tracks, showing where the pictured Mitsubishi sedan launched down an embankment on Dec. 6, 2023.
RINGTOWN – A 15-year-old girl was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries after she drove through and around someone’s yard before launching the car down an embankment.
The crash happened around 4:30pm Wednesday in the 200 block of East Main Street in Ringtown.
A neighbor’s security camera captured part of the incident, showing a Mitsubishi sedan drive east on East Main Street, into a yard before apparently flooring it and turning left.

She completed a loop, striking a fire pit, before crossing her own tire tracks and launching the sedan over an embankment and into a tree.
Firefighters at the scene said she was able to get out of the vehicle and back up the 15-foot embankment herself.

She was tended to by Shenandoah EMS and taken to a local hospital for treatment.
State Police at Frackville are investigating.
