Stove fire draws response to Mahanoy City High Rise

MAHANOY CITY – As emergency medical personnel were tending to a resident at the Mahanoy City High Rise, they were alerted to a smoke condition elsewhere in the building, prompting a fire response to the borough’s tallest building.
Firefighters were called to the high rise at Main and Centre Streets around 10pm Thursday for the reported fire.

The cause of the smoke condition reported on the 4th floor was reported to be a stove in an apartment and the fire was quickly extinguished.
Firefighters remained at the scene to ventilate the apartment.
No injuries were reported related to the fire.
