State Police identify victims of fatal Hazle Township fire
HAZLE TOWNSHIP – State Police have identified the two victims of a fatal weekend fire just outside Hazleton.
Barbara Salo, 77, and Fred Salo Jr., 78, were found dead in a burned home on Arthur Street in Hazle Township, just beyond the Hazleton city line.
The fire happened just before midnight Saturday at 17th and Arthur Streets.
State Police at Hazleton said firefighters found heavy smoke upon arrival and heavy fire inside the home.
During the firefight, crews were alerted that two people may be inside, and when the fire was extinguished, they were found deceased.
Fire marshals from State Police Troop N and Troop P investigated and no foul play is suspected.
