Shenandoah’s La Casita up for best new fair food at Allentown
ALLENTOWN, Lehigh County – A Shenandoah-based restaurant is up for Best New Fair Food at the Allentown Fair this year.
La Casita De Familia, whose restaurant is on East Centre Street, has multiple food trucks which set up at various fairs and markets, like Bloomsburg and the Hometown Farmers Market.
This year marks the first year they are attending the Allentown Fair, and, as such, one of their products is up for Best New Fair Food.
Their birria tacos are one of 15 different new food items and are described by the fair as “an authentic chili, dipped corn tortilla grilled to a crisp that are filled with perfectly slow cooked seasoned shredded beef, melted cheese, cilantro, onion, and a wedge of lime.”
Their competition includes Mexican Street Corn, Zeppole, Grilled Peanut Butter Spare Ribs, and a stuffed meatball, among others.
Fairgoers can pick up and return ballots at any entrance gate, InFAIRmation booth, or Agri~Plex office.
The fair runs through Monday at the fairgrounds in Allentown.
